My Concept

This is my concept for hotel. Snow is one of my favorite because it's white which is very clean and purity. Also, if you see deeper and closer into it, you can see beautiful shapes of crystals which are snow flakes. These shapes inspired me to design my hotel and I will use these shapes of snow flakes on my project which can be cluster plan or abstract elevation and section.

  1. Your "snow flakes" concept is also interesting and has potential for this site but your description is very poetic and I suggest for you to study this concept carefully because this site is in a historic district, meaning that you have to have a level of sensitivity you the sorrounding buildings. Furtheremore, I would like you to think about your concept in relationship to the site and in relationship the the water.

  2. A famous quote by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is
"I call architecture frozen music". This might have some relation to the structure, the snowflake and the East River. I feel this site is wanting to have a center point, a monument of some sort with the historic buildings- all of which are the same height, size, scale surrounding it. Hyerim- how do you fit a building based on snowflakes on this site?

  3. take a look at this image: http://www.charlesgilchrist.com/SGEO/Gal1001.html

There is organized geometry that can be taken from the snowflake - this might open up opportunities to study.

These are taking the idea of a snowflake shape and using a dome structure - snowflake warped
